6 cup AP flour
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking powder
2.75 cup Lard
1 Egg
1 cup Cold water
1 cup Bread crumbs
1 cup Mashed potatoes
0.25 cup Finely chopped onions
2 tbsp Summer savoury
Salt & pepper to taste
3 tbsp Chicken stock
5 large Russet potatoes - Peeled, boiled, mashed.
2 tsp Garlic paste
1 tbsp Butter
3 tbsp Milk
1 Beaten egg
Pie Crust
Mix the flour, salt and baking powder well.
Add diced cold lard and cut it into the flour mixture with a pastry cutter until mealy.
Create a well, add in the beaten egg and wold water. Mix and refrigerate.
makes 3 pie shells (top and bottom crusts).
Christmas Dinner Pie
Roll out the pie crust to approximately 1/8” thick place in pan and trim edges.
First Layer
1.5 - 2cups mixed light and dark cooked turkey meat.
Second Layer
cooked carrots (either dinner leftovers or freshly cooked).
Third Layer
Add stuffing
Fourth layer
Cranberry Sauce
Fifth Layer
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Lay your layers into the pie shell, making sure to fill right to the edges.
Bake for 40 minutes in a 400°F oven. Remove & serve hot.
This pie was inspired by taking holiday leftovers and utilizing them in a interesting new way - consider using leftovers you may have on hand as substitutes.
