About Canada's Food Island Prince Edward Island (PEI) may be our nation’s smallest province, but it has earned its title as Canada’s Food Island. Nestled in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Canada’s eastern coast, PEI is rich in iron-red farmland, pristine bays, and big hearts. Here, you can see where your food comes from and connect with the people who grow and harvest it. We’re world renowned for our incredible ingredients, including lobster, oysters, mussels, beef, and potatoes, but our most exceptional ingredient is our people. Our Island is home to countless farmers, fishers, chefs, food entrepreneurs, and generations of food lovers that are passionate about harvesting, creating, and sharing the very best food and drink. We’re the home of “roll-up-your-sleeve” people who know what it’s like to get our hands dirty on a farm or to have saltwater spray over the boat as we haul in the latest catch. We look forward to finding that perfect apple during family outings to the local u-pick. And when we visit the local farmers’ market, we end up socializing with friends and neighbours for longer than we actually shop. We’re also generous, friendly folk who enjoy hosting guests and making new friends. We know how to have a good time (just ask anyone who’s ever been to a PEI kitchen party!), and we want to share our love for PEI and its incredible food stories with you. Hungry yet? We thought so. You’re invited to discover Canada’s Food Island and our website is the perfect place to start exploring! There’s always room for you at our table.
