Here\u2019s a look at this year\u2019s champions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-traditional-acadian-meat-pie\"><strong>Traditional Acadian Meat Pie<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/canadasfoodisland.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Photo-2-Robert-Krystal-Arnold-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7520\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1st place<\/strong>: Krystal Horudko-Bingham<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2nd place<\/strong>: Olivia Ellsworth-Wilson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3rd place<\/strong>: Ronnie Blacquiere<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Krystal\u2019s winning recipe is steeped in family tradition. Inspired by a multigenerational recipe from her children\u2019s great-grandmother, Regine Mullis, who brought it to Charlottetown in the 1960s, Krystal\u2019s meat pie reflects the rich heritage of her family. \u201cThe recipe was passed down to me with no quantities\u2014just the basics,\u201d she shared. \u201cI\u2019ve learned to make it by sight, taste, smell, and feel, adapting it over the years with input from family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A sour cream pastry became one of her signature changes, ensuring a crust that was as dependable as it was delicious. For Krystal, the key to a perfect meat pie is twofold: using the best local ingredients and cooking with love. \u201cI support local farmers as much as possible, and I\u2019ve found that my baking turns out best when I\u2019m happy and intentional.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Krystal\u2019s journey to the top wasn\u2019t a first-time success story. As a dedicated participant since the festival\u2019s inception, she noted, \u201cThe first year, I placed first in Charlottetown but didn\u2019t make it to the top three at the finals. Last year, I was honoured to win the finals.
